OpenUI:: Data Blanks Out While Creating New Record In Pick Applets

SYMPTOMS
------------------
OpenUI pick applet newly entered values disappear when leave the pick applet idle for some time.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------------
Pick applet values should be retained even its left idle.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------------------
OpenUI pick applet newly entered values disappear when leave the pick applet idle for some time.


ENVIRONMENT

Siebel Financial Services - 8.2.2.4.7 OUI
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Testing

STEPS
---------------
The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:
Log into the application
Service Request
Click on the Last Name pick applet
Click New
Enter First Name, Last Name, Job Title etc. and now focus on work phone # or any other field which is not populated
Leave the pick applet untouched for 3 seconds to 20 seconds approximately
Observe that the data populated automatically blanks out.


IMPACT
---------------
Due to this issue, its impacting end users as its a data loss.


CAUSE
cause of the issue is product BUG. This issue is observed in 15.3 version too.

 

BUG 21904435 - OPENUI: DATA BLANKS OUT WHILE CREATING NEW RECORD IN PICK APPLETS

SOLUTION
Upon further troubleshooting could see that its the message broadcast related functionality is causing this data to wipe off.The following workaround can be applied

1) go to Tools > User Preference > Message Broadcasting
2) change Update Interval (Seconds): to 600. This will ensure that the refresh doesn't happen for 10 minutes. Change the value accordingly

If you wish to do at OM level, change the OM parameter "Application Message Bar Update Interval" value accordingly.
