SBL-GDB-00001 Unable to connect to the database

Siebel Remote: Generate New Database (GenNewDB) Task Fails when Submitted from GUI with error SBL-GDB-00001

SYMPTOMS
Siebel Remote / Replication / Anywhere - on version: 15.0 [IP2015]

Generate New Database (GenNewDB) fails when submitted from GUI after upgrading to IP15.
This task seems to work fine if started via srvrmgr, but the job fails when submitted through GUI with the error:

ERROR
-----------------------
SBL-GDB-00001: Unable to connect to the database.


CAUSE
The issue is caused by the following setup:

Most likely at component or component definition level there were some credentials saved specifically for this component and those may be wrong (different from those set on Enterprise or Server level)
Based on details collected, experience, research...

SOLUTION
In order to resolve this, following steps should be applied:

- unassigning / disabling the Remote component group from that server,
- restart of Siebel Services (both Server and Gateway),
- followed by re-enabling / assigning that Remote component group back,
- synchronize batch components
- and another Siebel server services restart
to reset any such parameters to default values / state.
